Nearby Rothiemurchus and Glen More estates are great areas for mountain biking, with lots of excellent forest trails. The Rothiemurchus Visitor Centre (see above) at Inverdruie has route maps and you can also hire bikes. Bike hire and good advice on routes is also available at Bothy Bikes, Unit 7, Grampian Rd, Aviemore, Tel. 810111, open daily 0900-1800. Aviemore Mountain Bikes, Tel. 811007, at 45a Grampian Rd, organises guided bike tours.

Nearby Nethy Bridge is a superb cycling area with hundreds of square miles of easily accessible tracks and quiet tarmac roads. Even the 'main' road through the village has comparatively little traffic. The Loch Garten Osprey hide, Abernethy Forest. and the Strathspey Steam Railway are all virtually on our doorstep. Loch Morlich, via Ryvoan Pass and Sluggan Pass is one of the best circular trips in Scotland (23 miles), and this is best done with Nethy Bridge as a starting point. Local cycle hire is available.

The Lochs and Glens stage of the Sustrans National Cycle Route from Glasgow to Inverness passes here and there are stamping points here at Carrbridge, as well as at nearby Boat of Garten and Aviemore.

Bike clubs and motor biking groups, particularly BMW and Harley Davidson clubs and groups, regularly visit the area from Western Europe in particular and sensational ‘big country’ touring surrounds us on all sides. We warmly welcome these groups to the hotel.
